Victoria Bates
A tribute
All of us at Pollyβs Place were extremely sad to hear of the passing of Vix Bates. Vix had been an artist with us for the last six years. We have felt so honoured to have been able to display and sell her fantastic and unique art and her wonderful crafts in Pollyβs Place Gift Shop and Artism Gallery.
Our love and thoughts go to her family at this very sad time and they have given a statement about Vix that they wish us to share:
βMy sister was intelligent, caring, and had a big heart and great sense of humour. She was always looking after and supporting others despite her own struggles. She had an interest in art, music, sewing childrenβs clothes, space, and technology. She regularly studied through the Open University from home when she could, as she was always eager to learn new things and develop new skills.
She was unfortunately let down by mental health services for 2 years. After previously having had excellent support, she now had none. As well as having autism, PTSD and schizophrenia, she had developed uncontrollable epilepsy.
Her mental health worsened as she struggled to cope and when Mum called the crisis team for help, they refused to come out and assess my sister and as a result, my sister sadly took her own life.
The family are hoping to raise funds for Victoriaβs funeral expensesβ
100% of the sale of Vixβs lovely items will go towards her funeral expenses
