The Autism Trust Summer Lunch

The Summer Lunch event, which took place on Sunday 4th July, was a fantastic success and has raised over £1800 for The Autism Trust.  Guests enjoyed perfectly prepared canapés with pink champagne followed by a delicious lunch rounded off with summer fruits and meringues. The sun was blazing and a good time was had by all.

Polly Tommey and Jan Percival of The Autism Trust present the hostess with flowers

Read below Allison Edwards’ account of the afternoon:

On the 4th of July Mr and Mrs Melven and Sandra Glander welcomed guests to an Autism Trust fundraiser in the garden of their beautiful Bury St Edmunds home. Firstly drinks and hors d'oeuvres on the terrace on a gloriously hot sunny day, then on to the marquis with flowers set tables and an array of the tastiest home-made delights to tempt any palate. Sandra is one amazing cook! Musicians entertained whilst guests ate, drank and made merry.

Jan Percival, Trustee, thanked her friend with flowers of appreciation for her support. Polly Tommey, Founder of The Autism Trust, gave a thought provoking speech about the charity’s intentions to build a positive and fulfilling future for adults with autism instead of an institutionalised one. There was a raffle too, with some smashing goody bag prizes. Guests came from far and wide. In one delightful lunchtime, £1,800 was raised. Perfect!

Special thanks should go to Mr and Mrs Croft, Sandra and Melven Glander, Sue and Melvyn Pound, Melissa Sheldrake and Alf and Jan Percival whose hard work made the event possible.
