Hello, we are Belinda, Michael, Christa, Wolfgang, Emmeline and Paul and are all neighbours from Kew. We have named ourselves The "Kew" Village People and are competing in The Great River Race on Saturday 5th September. Our goal is to row the 22 miles from Greenwich to Ham and raise money for The Autism Trust. Most of us have never rowed outside of the local duck pond so it is likely to be an interesting day. If you hear of a rogue boat in the shipping lanes of the Thames Estuary it means we have got lost, missed the tide and are drifting on our way across the North Sea!
We are aiming to raise £5,000 for our efforts. At 22 miles or 38,720 yards and the distance per stroke being approximately 4 yards it means each stroke is worth 50p - we will be in a proper traditional rowing boat and not a hi tech, carbon fibre speed machine!. This is your chance to help The Autism Trust make a difference for people with autism and contribute to our success. So please sponsor us - every donation will help take us to our target.
To make donating easy we have set up a Just Giving website. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us and maximises the money donated. The Autism Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
