The Autism Trust’s focus is on building an inspiring, sustainable and real future for the many children with autism in the UK today
We recognise the immense gap that exists between the demand for and current availability of existing residential and professional support options once children with autism leave supported education aged 19.
Our objective is simple: to create a caring and fulfilling future for children everywhere with autism.
We aim to do this by developing an innovative, high-quality community: a Centre of Excellence in Autism. It will be a place where residents can live in a life-long care environment; where they can work or travel to work; and where they, and visiting people with autism of all ages, can access specialist, autism-centred support: from personal skills development, to medical and nutritional advice, to mentoring and education.
We are focused on creating the first new Autism Trust centre to demonstrate how our model can work and to identify and develop an effective structure and guidelines to our approach.
We will then work to support other groups in replicating further comparable care communities throughout the United Kingdom.
We want to establish close connections now:
• With those who can help us financially
• With those who can help us with their time
• With those who can help us with their expertise
• With those who can go on to create the future communities based on our initial programme
and
• With those who just want to make a difference in autism
